The Parkdale United Cricket Club Junior Committee is endeavouring to set some goals and objectives to be one of the best run junior clubs in the SECA - not necessarily the best performing junior club – but the best administered and organised.
To do this, our mission is to strengthen our position & proud reputation as a club where kids can:
· just have fun & enjoy their cricket
· learn the skills & social interaction of the game of cricket
· develop learnt skills & take these onwards into senior ranks & beyond
These three points can be fostered and supported by:
· create & encourage a culture where every player gets a go & most importantly, within a non-threatening environment
· teach the basic skills correctly as early as possible - involving parents or coaches in basic coaching courses
· Improve the interaction & transition up into senior ranks through combined social events & activities
Parental involvement & assistance
The club has done a remarkable job over the last decade building our junior ranks up again – mainly due to the tireless efforts of only a handful of faithful club stalwarts and a handful of parents. We now have a number of dedicated parents that have attained their accredited coaching.
All of our junior members and their respective junior sides need the support and involvement of their parents and family – not just for the clubs sake, but for the child’s own confidence, self-worth & sense of achievement. What better feeling is there than performing to the best of our ability in front of Mum or Dad? What better feeling is there than witnessing our children having fun & experiencing the joys of their chosen sport? With this in mind, I personally bid you to get involved & become an integral part of your child’s cricket!
With over 50 junior players, we truly need assistance at training, at junior administration level, at social events and at matches with team managers, scorers, umpires, drinks & canteen operations.
The club provides all gear (bats, pads, helmets, gloves)
Players are not required to have their own equipment as the club kitbag contain all necessary gear. We do recommend that players purchase their own protector.
What to wear?
Runners, long white pants and socks - all of these should be predominantly white. The club provides a colored club cricket shirt and club cap. No clothing requirements are rigorously enforced until late in the season at finals time.
Our Senior and Junior coaches are Level One Accredited Coaches recognised by the Australian Cricket Board (ACB). Our Clubrooms are smoke free. We have a Sun Smart Policy and a Current Public Liability policy.
What is the cutoff date for each of the age groups?
U12 -> 7-11 years old on September 1st
U14 -> 12 or 13 years old on September 1st
U16 -> 14 or 15 years old on September 1st
Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 – 5:30pm including School Holidays. Training Begins in late September.
The All Girls team train Monday afternoon from 4:30 -5:30.
Sunday morning preseason, including School Holidays; Training moves to weekdays once the season commences.
Where is Training?
Club Location: Jack Grut reserve, Governor Road, Mordialloc.
Saturdays morning: Arrive at ground at 8:15am for an 8:45am start finish approx 11.30am
Friday / Wednesday evening: Arrive at the ground at 4:15 for a 4:30 start, finish approx. 7:00
The first Match:
The first match is usually the second weekend after school returns in term 4.
